Terms of Service
A small app, bought once, that runs on your Mac. These terms are short because there is not much to say: what your license covers, how to get your money back, and the handful of things ShipClock cannot promise you.
01What ShipClock is, and is not
ShipClock is a focus companion. You set a goal, pick a duration, and choose the apps and websites that count as work. It then shows you where your attention actually went.
It is not a blocker. It will not close an app, stop a website, or take the decision out of your hands. It notices and it tells you, and the rest is yours.
It is also not a monitoring tool. It is meant for your own Mac and your own work, not for watching anyone else.
02Agreement
These terms cover your use of ShipClock, a macOS app made by an independent developer. Installing or using the app means you agree to them.
03License
ShipClock is a one-time purchase. Your license covers personal use on one Mac, and it is not for resale or redistribution.
Future major versions may carry different terms, but a license you have already bought keeps working the way it did on the day you bought it.
04Activation
Your license key is bound to one device slot through Polar, and it is re-checked when the app launches so refunds and revocations take effect. You can deactivate a Mac from inside the app to free that slot for another one.
Working around, patching, or faking that check is not permitted, and is the one thing here that will end your license.
05Payments and refunds
Checkout is handled by Polar, who act as the merchant of record. If ShipClock is not for you, email support@shipclock.app within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked.
If your license email never arrives, Polar's customer portal will hand you the key again using the address you paid with.
06What you need to run it
ShipClock is built around the MacBook notch and needs a recent version of macOS. On a display without a notch, it sits at the top of the screen instead. Website detection needs macOS Automation permission for each browser, granted by you.
Running it on an unsupported setup, or with those permissions declined, is not a defect. The app degrades to what it can still see.
07Your data is yours to keep
Everything ShipClock records lives on your Mac and nowhere else, which also means there is no copy for us to restore. Backups are yours to make. If the file is lost, damaged, or deleted, that history is gone, and we cannot get it back for you.
08Acceptable use
Do not redistribute the app outside the official download, reverse-engineer its licensing, or install it on someone else's Mac to observe them without their knowledge and consent.
09Third-party services
ShipClock relies on Polar for checkout and licensing, on Sparkle for updates, and on your browsers answering a question about their active tab. Your use of those is subject to their own terms, and their availability is not something we control.
10No warranty
ShipClock is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it accurate and reliable, but we cannot promise it will be error-free. Tracking is best-effort: a browser that stops answering, a permission that gets revoked, a Mac that sleeps at an awkward moment, all of these can leave a gap in a session.
11Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of ShipClock, including work you did not finish and time a session recorded imprecisely. The timer is encouragement, not a record of account.
12Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. The date at the top of this page changes when we do, and anything material is noted on the Updates page.
